The concept of
Family Counseling was first introduced by Mahila Dakshata Samiti, in
fact India's first Counseling Center was setup by Mahila Dakshata
Samiti.

It was at the
behest of Mahila Dakshata Samiti that various laws have been amended
or formed from time to time for the protection of women, including the
Dowry Amendment Bill, Rape Bill, Prevention of Female Feticide,
Domestic Violence Bill, Satti Prohibition Act, and now the demand for
33% Reservation for Women, etc.

The Samiti has
played a vital role in building the women movement in India through
its branches all over India and abroad.

The Samiti strives
to work towards the implementation of UN Charter of Human Rights and
has been given the ECOSOC Status.

Short stay Home Swadhar Greha ( Snehakaya ) is
running very well in New Delhi.

Many Branches of MDS for eg In Bengaluru,
Hyderabad are doing very well supporting the cause of Women
empowerment.

Consumer movement
was started by Mahila Dakshata Samiti.

The idea of Family
Courts was spearheaded by the Samiti.
-
The concept of
saving families without going to the courts was achieved by Mahila
Dakshata Samiti advocating for free Legal Aid Cell at Patiala House
Courts in New Delhi.

awards at national and international level for their contribution in

Suman Krishan Kant
National President
Suman Krishan Kant was
honoured with the Social Justice Medal by Justice K. G Balakrishnan,
Chief Justice of India on International Womens Day in 2007.
Another award was given to
Suman Krishan Kant honouring her for her contribution to the womens
movement in India.
She has also been conferred
with the National Citizen Award by Rev. Mother Teresa in 1996.

Prem
Ahluwalia
National General Secretary,
was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her
contribution to the womens movement at the International Womens Day
celebrations in Berlin, Germany in 2012.
